OriginOil Partner, Idaho National Laboratory

Department of Energy – Idaho National Laboratory

OriginOil and the Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory (INL) announced a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) on 17 February 2009. Phase 1 was completed on 7 October 2009, with Phase 2 and Phase 3 currently under design. OriginOil is collaborating with the DOE regarding the development of a blendable algae feedstock standard.

“Algae represent a potential key biomass resource for a sustainable bioenergy industry,” said Tom Ulrich, INL senior advisory scientist. “Collaboration with OriginOil has been encouraging, especially the modeling of their algae growth and production process. Phase 2 of the CRADA will focus on further process validation, economic modeling and improved biomass logistics for the scale-up of algae biomass production.”

OriginOil's first customer, MBD Energy

MBD Energy Limited

OriginOil is currently supplying MBD Energy, an Australian company, with its Quantum Fracturing™ and Single-Step Extraction™ systems under a multi-phase commercialization program to utilize algal biomass for carbon capture at three power station projects in Australia. Anglo American, one of the world’s largest mining companies, is a cornerstone investor in MBD Energy. The research phase of the multi-year master agreement has been completed and MBD is now provisioning its first power plant project, with OriginOil as an embedded strategic partner.

OriginOil Partner, Ennesys

Ennesys

On 11 May 2011, OriginOil announced a joint venture with UK-based incubator PJC to form Ennesys, a system integrator focused on algae production to meet The European Union’s environmental regulations.

France in particular has mandated that all major buildings achieve a positive energy balance by the year 2020. Ennesys is working with Global 500 clients such as Bouygues Construction to evaluate the integration of waste water algae production as a means to comply with these new green building standards.

OriginOil’s goal is to embed our technology inside industrial algae systems. We are also keenly interested in proving our technology in real-world applications and pilot projects. We’d like to talk to you if your company fits either of these partnering models:

Pilot and OEM Partners

  1. As a Pilot or Strategic partner, you will help us demonstrate our technology in real-world conditions, starting small and scaling up to commercial standards. A strategic partner should understand it is gaining a potential marketplace advantage in return for working with technology that is still in development.
  2. As an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partner, you will integrate our extraction technology into branded systems for sale to customers. This category encompasses manufacturers, distributors, engineering service firms, system integrators as well as specialty operators in high-value markets such as nutritionals and beauty products. Certain OEMs will be selected as manufacturers of OriginOil’s proprietary hardware.

Requirements

To qualify as a Pilot or Strategic partner, you should be funded for your algae activity. You will also be asked to sign a technology agreement that safeguards our intellectual property. You should understand that you’ll be working with our technology in a developmental stage.

OEMs should have the ability to get their breakthrough technology into the markets they control as fast and as widely as possible.

If you fit these requirements, please click on the link below to register with us.
