The OriginOil System solves the algae production problems in the growth and extraction phases. Using Quantum Fracturing technology, the OriginOil System functions as a continuous oil-producing industrial process.
Growth Stage
Algae growth occurs in a bioreactor, an enclosed vessel in which chemical or biological reactions take place. Typically, a network of bioreactors serves the OriginOil System, depending on the scale required.
Nutrients and Algae
First, the Quantum Fracturing Unit injects a micronized nutrient mix into the incubated algae culture in each bioreactor. There, a proprietary rod and paddle mechanism continuously disperses the algae/nutrient mix for best nutrient contact and access to light for all algae cells.
The amount of dispersal and the cycle times are carefully controlled to create a “feed” and “starve” cycle to induce growth and oil production respectively.
Light
Inside the bioreactor is an intricate network of low-energy light-emitting diodes (LED) and other lighting technologies that are placed close to the algae culture and controlled through a light diffuser to ensure proper distribution. This greatly enhances the energy and growth efficiency of our bioreactor.
Collection
Once it has reached the desired level of oil potential, the mature algae is harvested. In this process the system causes the algae cells to rotate and float to the top of the water line where they can be collected for extraction.
Extraction Stage
In extraction, the Quantum Fracturing Unit again goes to work, fracturing a solution of proprietary catalysts that is injected into the extraction tank. The fracturing effect is so intense that it creates an ultrasonic effect that literally “cracks” the algae cell wall open and releases the oil.
Using Quantum Fracturing, the amount of energy used to crack the algae is many times less than other extraction technologies.
Next, conventional mechanical methods are used to separate the oil, water and algae mass. The water is recycled back into the system, the oil is packaged for refining and distribution, and the algae mass is devoted to various “green” applications like animal feed, ethanol and construction materials.
The final step of the extraction phase is the flushing and cleaning of the bioreactor in preparation for the arrival of newly incubated algae stock.
Enabling a Distributed Oil Model
The OriginOil System is designed to be modular. It can function as a standalone oil producing system, or can be connected in a parallel network to produce any desired number of barrels per day output. OriginOil Systems can be placed anywhere to operate as continuous oil-producing plants to replace petroleum for use in electricity generation and fuel production.
By enabling distributed oil production we can help transform the oil and energy industry from a centralized to a distributed model. The ability to generate clean, carbon-neutral energy anywhere can empower industrialization in villages, townships, communities, states and countries. There will be no need to import oil.
A new oil can be cleanly manufactured in an industrialized process using the OriginOil System.
